HOW TO PASS YOUR PROP FIRM EVALUATION (WITHOUT BLOWING IT)

Evaluations have a way of making people stupid. The timer's running. The profit target's looming. Suddenly you're taking trades you'd never take normally, hoping something will save you.

That's how people fail. Here's how to actually pass.

The Problem With Pressure

Most prop firm evaluations have profit targets and time limits. This creates urgency. Urgency creates panic. Panic creates bad trades.

Traders who normally wait for good setups start forcing entries. Traders who normally respect their stop losses start widening them "just this once." Traders who normally size correctly start going bigger because they're running out of time.

Every one of these behaviors increases your chances of failing.

High-Probability Trades Only

During an evaluation, quality beats quantity every time.

You don't need twenty trades. You might only need five or six good ones. Focus on the setups where you have the highest win rate, the clearest signals, and the best risk-reward.

If a setup looks "okay," skip it. Wait for the ones that look great. You can afford to miss mediocre opportunities. You can't afford to lose money on them.

Simplify Your Decision-Making

The more decisions you make under pressure, the worse those decisions get. So make as many decisions as possible before the pressure starts.

Before the evaluation: What setups will you trade? What pairs? What time of day? What's your position size? Where do stops and targets go?

During the evaluation: Is this my setup? Yes or no. Take it or skip it. That's the only decision left.

Your Rules Don't Change

Whatever rules you traded with before the evaluation, those are your rules during the evaluation.

Don't suddenly start trading setups you've never backtested. Don't change timeframes because you're impatient. Don't increase position size because you're behind on profit target.

The evaluation is testing whether you can trade consistently. Consistency means same rules, same execution, regardless of the pressure.

Manage Your Risk Like It Matters

One blown trade can end your evaluation. Most challenges have daily drawdown limits and maximum drawdown limits. Hit either one and you're done.

This means position sizing matters more during evaluations than in normal trading. If you normally risk 2%, consider risking 1%. Give yourself room for a losing streak without hitting drawdown limits.

Set your stop loss before you enter. Don't move it. If the trade doesn't work, take the small loss and look for the next setup. Small losses don't fail evaluations. Big losses do.

Time Pressure Is a Trap

If you're behind on the profit target with time running out, the worst thing you can do is force trades.

Taking random entries because you're desperate guarantees losses. And those losses dig you deeper into the hole.

It's better to let time run out while waiting for good setups than to blow the account chasing the target. Some evaluations can be retried. Money lost on revenge trading is gone forever.

Pass by trading the same way you'd trade if there were no timer. The traders who do that are the ones who get funded.
