Here is what we have observed and what we are doing to build something better.
Over the past several months, a consistent sequence has emerged. A trader passes an evaluation, gets funded, withdraws profits, and leaves a positive review on Trustpilot. Within days, the review is gone. Not flagged for suspicious content. Not disputed by another user. Simply removed by an automated moderation system with no explanation that holds up to scrutiny.
When we reach out to Trustpilot, the response follows a familiar template: automated flagging, algorithmic detection, platform integrity measures. There is rarely a specific explanation for why that particular review was flagged. Human review requires escalation through a process that takes weeks, often longer than the reviewer's engagement window.
Meanwhile, negative reviews from accounts with no verified trading activity remain visible indefinitely. No automated flagging. No algorithmic detection. The asymmetry raises legitimate questions about how moderation standards are applied in practice.
Trustpilot's moderation algorithm is designed to detect review spam and artificial boosting. In theory, this protects consumers from fake reviews. In practice, the algorithm catches legitimate positive reviews at roughly the same rate it catches spam, with no effective way to differentiate them at scale.
There is a structural reason for this. A trader who fails an evaluation is highly motivated to post a negative review immediately. It goes up within days, often before the cooling-off period expires.
A trader who passes an evaluation, gets funded, and withdraws profits is busy trading. If they leave a review at all, it is often weeks or months later. By that point, the system may flag their account as "inactive" or their review as "suspicious" because it does not fit the pattern of recent activity. The algorithm cannot tell the difference between a suspicious account and a satisfied customer who took time to leave thoughtful feedback.
Others in the trading industry have noticed the same dynamic. Illimar Mattus, who works with Tickmill and The Trading Pit, recently highlighted a related pattern on LinkedIn. He pointed out that Robinhood holds a 1.2 out of 5 rating on Trustpilot, Amazon sits at 1.7, Nike at 1.6, while unknown storefronts with hundreds of five-star reviews and no verifiable track record hit 4.8 within weeks. His conclusion: Trustpilot scores reflect who has the most motivated reviewers, not who provides the best service.
We would add one further observation. The structure of the moderation system creates a consistent downward bias: it actively removes verified positive feedback from legitimate businesses while applying a different standard to unverified negative reviews. Whether this is intentional or a by-product of the algorithm design, the effect on business reputation is the same.
A prop firm that spends years building a reputation, paying out traders, and operating transparently can watch its Trustpilot score drift downward through no fault of its own. Positive reviews are quietly pruned. The rating declines. New traders check the score and see a number that no longer reflects the actual experience of funded traders.
Meanwhile, a bad actor can buy 500 fake reviews and hit a 4.8 rating for two weeks before Trustpilot's algorithm catches up. By then, they have collected enough evaluation fees to disappear and relaunch under a new brand. The short-term economics favour the bad actor, while legitimate firms absorb reputational drift they did not cause.
For the prop trading industry, the stakes are particularly high. The industry already contends with a perception problem. Every bad actor that emerges makes it harder for legitimate firms to earn trader confidence. Trustpilot should be helping solve that problem, not compounding it by stripping away the evidence that honest firms are actually delivering on their promises.

Each review is linked to a verified trader - someone who actually passed an evaluation, traded on a funded account, and in many cases withdrew profits. The reviewer's identity is confirmed against our internal records. Once submitted, the review is published immediately. There is no moderation queue, no algorithmic flagging, no paid tier that determines whether your opinion counts.
Every review stays up permanently. We do not filter by sentiment, remove constructive criticism, or curate highlights. This is the core promise of SFX Funded reviews: if a trader took the time to leave feedback, that feedback stays visible to every future trader who wants to evaluate us.
Our current ratings tell a story that matches what we see on Trustpilot, with one critical difference - nothing gets silently removed. Across 75 reviews on our platform, we hold a 4.9 overall rating with a 97.4% recommendation rate. The breakdown by category shows consistent strength: support at 4.8, dashboard at 5.0, payout speed at 4.8, overall experience at 4.9, and challenge rules at 4.9.
Visitors can filter reviews by program type, Instant Funding, 1-Step Evaluation, 2-Step Evaluation, or Rapid - and sort by rating or recency. This gives prospective traders the ability to see feedback that is relevant to the specific program they are considering, rather than a single aggregated score that hides important nuance.
We publish the good reviews and the less favourable ones. A 4.7 rating on Trustpilot across thousands of reviews and a 4.9 on our own platform means most traders have a positive experience. But we also have traders who hit challenges, disagree with a rule, or think we could improve. Those reviews stay visible too, because transparency means showing the full picture, not curating the highlights. One of our most helpful recent reviews simply says: "No dulling, SFX pays out" - and it sits alongside reviews that offer more detailed feedback on specific aspects of the experience.
For third-party review platforms to become genuinely trustworthy, three things need to happen.
First, specific removal explanations. "Flagged by our automated system" is not an explanation. If a business can provide payout records, trader verification, and transaction logs proving the reviewer was a real customer, that evidence should be sufficient to reinstate a review. The current appeals process does not meaningfully evaluate this evidence.
Second, symmetrical moderation standards. If a platform is aggressive enough to remove reviews because the reviewer's account looks suspicious, that filter must apply equally to negative reviews. Leaving unverified negative reviews untouched while stripping verified positive ones creates a systematic downward bias that harms legitimate businesses.
Third, actual human review. Not a chatbot escalation tree or a knowledge base article. A person who can examine the evidence and make a reasoned judgment. When a business has documented proof that a reviewer was a funded trader who withdrew profits, that should end the discussion, not start a weeks-long escalation process.
We are not abandoning third-party review platforms entirely. Trustpilot remains a useful signal, especially for traders who want to cross-reference feedback across multiple sources. We still respond to every review on Trustpilot and document every removal through their appeals process. But we no longer rely on it as the single source of truth, because the data shows it cannot serve that role impartially.
We are not paying for review placement or incentivising positive ratings. Every review on our platform comes from a real trader who chose to leave feedback unprompted. The write-a-review flow is open to anyone who has traded with us, and we do not filter, moderate, or delay publication based on sentiment.
We are also not pretending our service is perfect. No prop firm is. We have traders who struggle with specific evaluation rules, who wish payout thresholds were lower, who think certain aspects of the experience could be smoother. Those voices are part of the platform too. They help us improve, and they help prospective traders make an informed decision rather than a marketing-driven one.
If you are evaluating a prop firm, we encourage you to look beyond any single review platform. Check multiple sources. Look for payout proof directly on the firm's website. Talk to funded traders in community channels. Examine independent review sources.
A review platform that removes verified positive reviews while keeping unverified negative ones up is not a reliable source of truth by itself. It is one data point among many, and an increasingly distorted one at that.
